While the government of Kenya has begun providing some financial assistance for high school students many families still struggle to pay for books, uniforms and other school necessities. The costs for board, materials, books and other supplies are just too great for many families to bear.
The mission of the Rop-Mercy Foundation is to provide school fees and supplies for high school students in rural Kenya so that they are able to complete four years of high school and graduate.
The Foundation was created to assist highly motivated students who, without its financial help, would not be able to remain in school.
The Rop-Mercy Foundation, in coordination with Kenyan school site councils, will make funds available to the student's school account. Each school uses the money for that student's school fees and other needs that may include necessary learning supplies and uniforms.
The Rop-Mercy Foundation works closely with a team of school administrators in the Rift Valley, Western and Central parts of Kenya to identify potential recipients of its assistance.
Students are selected based on academic achievement and potential along with financial need. The Foundation was created to assist highly motivated students who, without its financial help, would not be able to remain in school.
